What Plate Cost keeps, and what it does with it. The first part is the same on every JTS tool; the last part is what is particular to Plate Cost.
Who looks after your data
Plate Cost is run by JTS, a small software business based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. For anything about your data, write to platecost@jtsapps.com. A person reads every message.
What is kept, and why
- Your account: your email address, your business name if you gave one, and your password, stored only as a one-way scrambled form that cannot be turned back into the password.
- Whether you have paid: your plan, its dates, and the reference Stripe gives the payment. Your card number goes to Stripe, never to JTS.
- What you put into Plate Cost, so it is there next time you sign in. The section below says what that is for this tool.
- Messages you send us, so we can answer them.
What is never done with it
It is never sold, never used for advertising, never shown to another customer, and never used to compare you with anyone.
Who helps us run it
- Fly.io runs the servers, in Dallas, Texas, USA, where your data is stored.
- Stripe takes card payments.
- Google Workspace carries the email we send you and the email you send us.
- Google Fonts supplies the typeface on our public pages, so Google sees your internet address when it sends it.
- Cloudflare answers the lookup that turns our web address into a server address. Your visits do not pass through it.
Cookies and visit counts
- One cookie keeps you signed in, and a short-lived one is used while you move between JTS tools. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
- We count how many times each public page is opened, as plain numbers per page per day. No cookie is set and no internet address is kept for this.
How long it is kept, and your choices
- Your data is kept while you have an account, so it is all there if you stop paying and come back.
- Ask, and we send you a copy, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it. A deletion is done within 30 days; copies in our backups are overwritten in the normal backup cycle after that. Payment records the law makes us keep are kept for as long as it says.
- Where the law in your country gives you more rights over your data, we honor them.
- Plate Cost is made for businesses and adults, not for children.

Plate Cost in particular
About your menu
What you put in: your restaurant's name and location, your vendors' names, your ingredients with how you buy them and what you pay, every change to those prices with when and why, your recipes, your menu items and their prices, and the price alerts Plate Cost works out from them. Nothing about your customers or your staff is asked for. It is kept until you delete it, or your account, and it is never used for anything but showing you your own numbers.
Plate Cost emails you when your free days start, two days before they end and on the last day, from platecost@jtsapps.com — and when you ask for a new password. Nothing about your menu is ever sent to anybody else.
Taking it with you, or deleting it
You do not have to ask: Settings has "Export everything", which downloads all of it as spreadsheets, and "Delete my account", which deletes all of it for good.
Inside the app
Every page inside Plate Cost, where your prices are, loads nothing from anybody but this site.
The rest of the JTS tools
Each one does one job for a small business, worked out from numbers you already have.
